If you’re looking for a quick getaway destination that looks incredibly exotic, but it’s located within short distance from L.A., look no further than Palm Springs. This Mojave desert oasis is my favorite place for R&R and poolside fun.
I recommend staying at the Korakia, if you’re longing for a faraway country. Once you enter the gates of this Moroccan looking boutique hotel, you’ll instantly feel like you’re in Casablanca. The orange blossoms fragrance, the backdrop of the magnificent desert rocky mountains, and the tranquil pool area make Korakia the epitomy of peace and relaxation. There’s something magical happening in this place that soothes the senses and takes you to a different time and dimension.
If you want to party, you have to stay at the Ace Hotel. From the eclectic decor to the scooter rentals and the legendary Sunday afternoon dj pool parties, this hotel is all about fun. Even dogs have a good time, as you’re allowed to bring your pets.
The Parker is an incredible property (calling it a hotel doesn’t do any justice); it’s my number one choice, there are no others quite like it. It combines the uniqueness of the Korakia with its grounds resembling a wild Paris garden and the fun of the Ace Hotel style-wise (sans the djs and the crowds). The rooms and suites are all located in villas that are surrounded by a labyrinth of tall and scented trees and bushes. There are some great amenities such as a large spa, a giant chess board, table tennis, a boccie field, and a cricket field.
This time, I decided to try something new, so I stayed at the Saguaro; a brand new hotel that just opened last February. It’s an old Holiday Inn Hotel remodeled with sparkling bright colors inside out. It’s as fun as the Ace, but less wild; it has a Tequila bar and a delicious tapas restaurant, Tinto. Dogs are allowed here, too, and you can rent fun beach cruisers or stretch during a complimentary morning yoga class.
Excellent round-up story, Arianna! Love seeing the photos of all the spots you told me about—Korakia and The Parker. Must check those out. So fun seeing you at the ACE Saturday, day and night! Loved it. Xx
Thanks Shannon! Had loads of fun with you guys! Hasta pronto xox
Can’t wait for my next trip to PS. You’ve captured the old and the new! As always, great photos.
